What actually happens on a food tour?

Meet your guide in the heart of town and set off on a relaxed, three-hour walking adventure enjoying food tastings along the way. We’ll visit several locally owned restaurants for curated tastings while hearing the stories, history, and hidden gems that make the destination unique. Come hungry, wear comfortable shoes, plan ahead for the weather, and get ready to experience the destination through its flavors.

How long does the tour last?

Plan for about three hours from start to finish. We keep a relaxed pace so there’s plenty of time to eat, chat, and take in the scenery between stops.

Will I be full?

The tastings add up to a full meal’s worth of food, so we recommend skipping lunch beforehand and arriving with an appetite.

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

We gladly work with our restaurant partners to accommodate dietary restrictions whenever possible with at least 72 hours’ notice. While we may accommodate some requests, we cannot guarantee substitutions or prevent cross-contamination, as all tastings are prepared in independent restaurant kitchens.

Guests with severe food allergies or strict dietary requirements should contact us before booking to determine whether the tour is a good fit.

What about severe allergies?

Severe Food Allergies

Guests with severe or potentially life-threatening food allergies must disclose their allergy when booking and notify their guide at the start of the tour.

Dayworthy Tours will communicate disclosed dietary restrictions and allergies to our restaurant partners; however, we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment or prevent cross-contact.

Guests with a known severe allergy are STRONGLY encouraged to carry their prescribed epinephrine auto-injector or other emergency medication with them throughout the tour and to make their guide aware of its location.

Guests are responsible for determining, in consultation with their healthcare provider when appropriate, whether participating in the tour is safe given their individual allergy.

Are drinks included?

Water is available at every stop, and we encourage all guests to stay hydrated, especially at our high elevation. Alcoholic beverages are not included but may be purchased by guests 21 or older with valid government-issued identification (U.S. ID or foreign passport), subject to each restaurant’s policies. Any alcoholic beverage must be consumed during our scheduled stop and may not be carried between locations.

Dayworthy Tours encourages responsible alcohol consumption. Guests who appear intoxicated, consume alcohol excessively, behave disruptively, or negatively impact the experience of others may be removed from the tour without a refund at the sole discretion of the guide.

Where do tours meet?

We meet at a central spot in Vail Village, and you’ll receive the exact meeting point and directions in your booking confirmation. Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled departure to ensure the group is ready to depart promptly at our start time. The guide will be wearing a rust orange hat or beanie with “Dayworthy Tours” written across it and be at the meeting point 15 minutes before the scheduled tour departure.

What should I wear?

Comfortable and safe walking shoes with the weather in mind. Mountain weather shifts quickly, so dress for the conditions and bring something warm even on sunny days. We’ll be on our feet and moving between stops so we recommend close toed shoes. Please be prepared to be walking outside between stops in all weather conditions (hot, cold, raining, snowing, etc)

What happens if it rains or snows?

Tours operate rain, shine, or snow—after all, that’s part of experiencing the mountains. Most of our time is spent inside our restaurant partners, with only short walks between stops. Vail’s heated walkways and pedestrian-friendly villages make exploring comfortable year-round, but we recommend dressing appropriately for the weather. In the event of severe weather or conditions that make operating the tour unsafe, Dayworthy Tours may modify, postpone, or cancel the tour.

What if I’m running late?

Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled tour time to check in and meet your guide. We spend the first few minutes together at our meeting point before heading to our first stop, so guests running just a few minutes behind may still be able to catch the group before we depart.

If you’re running late, please call us as soon as possible. To respect our restaurant partners and fellow guests, tours begin on time and cannot be delayed for late arrivals. If the group has already departed, we’ll do our best to help you join the tour at an upcoming stop. Tastings missed before you join the group cannot be held or replaced.

Because we provide our restaurant partners with final guest counts in advance and food is prepared accordingly, late arrivals and missed tours are non-refundable.

How much does the tour cost?

Lunch Tour | 11 AM–2 PM — $200 per guest
Après Tour | 3–6 PM — $225 per guest
Private Tour | Lunch or Après — $250 per guest ($1,500 minimum)

Your tour price includes all five food tastings and your Dayworthy guide for the full three-hour experience. Guide gratuity is not included.

Online reservations are subject to a 6% FareHarbor booking fee. Guests who prefer to book directly with us may call or email Dayworthy to reserve without the online booking fee.

How far in advance should I book?

The sooner the better. Our tours max out at 10 participants, so groups fill up fast, especially in peak season. We recommend booking at least two weeks ahead to secure your preferred date, but further out for especially busy periods like Christmas-New Years and Spring Break.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that plans can change. Because Dayworthy Tours reserves limited tour capacity and coordinates each experience in advance with our restaurant partners and guides, the following cancellation policy applies:

72+ hours before your tour: Full refund.

48–72 hours before your tour: 50% refund.

Less than 48 hours before your tour: Non-refundable.

Same-day cancellations, late arrivals, and no-shows: Non-refundable.

Our cancellation policy applies when personal circumstances prevent you from attending, including travel delays, flight changes, traffic, road conditions or closures, illness, and changes to your travel plans. Mountain travel can be unpredictable, so we strongly encourage allowing extra time when traveling to Vail.

If Dayworthy Tours cancels your tour, you will always have the option to receive a full refund or reschedule to another available tour.

We’ll always do our best to help when plans change, but if the tour is operating as scheduled, the standard cancellation policy applies.

Is the tour accessible for limited mobility?

The tour involves a moderate amount (about 1 mile total) of walking over village terrain in a high elevation mountain enviornment, but the paths are well cared for and very open. If you have mobility concerns, please reach out before booking and we’ll walk you through the route so you can decide if this tour is for you.

Can children come along?

To ensure an enjoyable experience for all guests, our food tours are designed for ages 14 and older. The tour includes approximately three hours of walking, multiple restaurant visits, and a relaxed pace geared toward teens and adults.

Do you offer private tours?

Yes! We offer private food tours for families, friends, corporate groups, celebrations, and other special occasions. Enjoy the same curated tastings and local storytelling with your own dedicated guide and no outside guests. Contact us directly to discuss your group!
